My wife and I have raised our family here in SP for 53 years. We once lived in an apartment on Emily above Alma. Back in the 60;'s and I suspose now, Alma was a place where people used to race one another.,
Now, since the planning stages of the New High School there has been a few who didn't want the kids riding on the few buses up and down Alma to the new school..
I am not sure why these few feel that a PUBLIC STREET isn't for the PUBLIC, including school buses? There are some who have painted signs that are almost as large as their homes. I wonder what that is doing to the value of perspective buyers in that area?
Now these few are demanding that the city upgrade the street, which would be fine with me but these few don't want to stop there, they want the entire streert closed to through traffic.
What with the land slide at White Point, this would funnel all traffic to Paseo down Gaffey or Patton St.
Those of you envolved, In my opinion, need to get a grip and realize Alma is a PUBLIC STREET!
Thanks for listening to my point of view!

Yet another example of the lack of integrity of LAUSD. It did not take a genius to know from the outset that the alleged "official" entrance would be unworkable given the time constraints of class schedules on the main campus. The district knew that from the start, or should have known. Did they not do test runs, don't they know how long it takes to load a bus, or van, or scatter to cars in the parking lot? Did they honestly believe the students and staff would hustle to fit into the other complex's schedule?
What is so aggravating is their failure to tell the truth to neighbors whose common sense caused them to question statements made to placate the doubters.
What is so amazing is that there are still people who think the district, through it's agents, can be believed. I'm reminded of how the Native Americans must have felt as they saw treaty after treaty broken as their lands became desirable.

Should have just upgraded the existing School which would have saved a lot of money for a City that's broke. Now we have not only the inconvenience of additional traffic but LAUSD is contributing to the overall pollution in the air by busing in kids from all over creation including Gardena. Strange how clean air is a non issue when the City embarks on a project. Alma and Palisades residents should stand firm and just say NO to access on Alma except for emergency vehicles.

Funny (?) how LAUSD, Vlad especially, would leave Jeanette Stevens as the person to face the neighborhood. Where is Vlad listed as the person making decisions now? Janette gets to say..."we have not choice", "What ever you were promised before just does not work" etc. Great backing from LAUSD.
We found that LAUSD was busing students to San Pedro High from Gardena. LAUSD told us they were not busing in from Gardena till one of the neighbors in the area that drives the school buses stood up and told us all he picks up and delivers students from Gardena to San Pedro daily.
It does not matter what LAUSD promises they will do what ever they want, when they want. They promise just to shut us up, till the next time.

LAUSD has been documented on countless occasions stating that Alma will always be closed. In fact, it is well documented as one of the key main concessions they made to the community when negotiating the school being built. There are videos, articles and numerous eyewitnesses documenting this contract they made with the community.

A lack of planning on their part does not justify creating real harm to residents in terms of safety, stress and financial loss from reduced property value due to bus traffic.

They will be held to their contract with the community. I'm sure the community would be more than willing to help them find solutions that do not involve harming local residents if only they would learn to work with the community instead of against it.
