2014-15 CSPNC Selections – Get on Board!

Opportunity for Palisades Residents…

CSPNC Board Seats Open, (S)Elections at WPNP

Just in case you didn’t see the “Get on Board” mailer, need an extra push or see an announcement in some form of media, Governing Board Seats on the 2013-2014 Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council are up for (S)Election on May 18 at the White Point Nature Preserve Nature Center from 10:00 – 3:00. Free refreshments, Naturalists and of course, voting!

But before that happens, you still have a few days to submit your name to be publicized via CSPNC’s Coastal Currents to the entire neighborhood – to be voted on.

You gotta admit (with PRA’s help and initiation of several key issues affecting us), CSPNC has done a stellar job serving this neck of the woods on behalf of the residents and is a good place to bring issues needing solving. Maybe it’s your time to lead.

Go to cspnc.org and see what is involved!

At the very least, there will be announcements soon re: the PRA Board, Annual Meeting, and yes, dues! Membership is an integral part of the fuel that drives the communication in this neighborhood.

Palisades Point of View – December | Seasons Greetings + A Miracle

The Palisades Residents Association Board wishes you and your family a special Holiday season and New Year filled with promise and to accomplish all the goals and things that you set out to do.

The Holidays like it used to be! That’s right – the “Miracle on 37th Street” at the Corner Store is here once again – a great neighborhood event on Friday, December 21, beginning at 5:30.

Santa 5:30 – 7:30pm
Caroling 7:30 – 8:30pm

Bring your camera, jingle bells and flashlight for an old fashioned evening with Santa Claus. Call 310.832.2424 for more information.

You may want to check out all the very cool, popular kids and local Holiday gift items available in store beforehand though, as they are likely to be sold out by the 21st!

Do you care about the future of the new Ports o Call development? Chime into our Neighborhood Council’s position of the Port’s Ports o Call Selection process at cspnc.org or attend the Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council Meeting (Monday night 12.17 6:30) and the Port’s website.

Yes, it is “time to chime” rather than a fast track development process that passes you by.

CSPNC Selection Tomorrow

Tomorrow – Saturday, May 19, the CSPNC will hold a “Selection” at Pt. Fermin Park Cetacean Room, to choose the 17 Board Members to serve for the 2012-2013 term. Anyone who lives, works, owns property or has a stake in the neighborhoods of our community is eligible to run and vote. You must be at least 18 years old.

Candidate Forum at 10:00, Voting begins at 11:00 – 1:00.

In addition to upcoming Board opportunities and an annual meeting with your PRA, this is your opportunity to make a difference in our local Neighborhood Council, recognized as a leader in the City of Los Angeles and here’s your chance to run and be selected to guide the area’s direction and position – or simply vote who will!

See cspnc.org for more details.

“Live” at the Corner Store – Today

Today 04.29, is a “LIVE” day at The Corner Store!

Brought back by popular demand, the morning starts off with The Bailey Brothers live performance from 9:30 am – 12 pm. According to Peggy, these guys are guaranteed to please.

Later in the day is the Corner Store’s first ever Open Mic Night beginning at 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Word has it that on the mic, we will have some Corner Store girls and some local favorites. The neighborhood is invited to enjoy an evening of fun!

Free Ho Ho Holiday Parking in San Pedro approved

Thanks to Councilmen Tom LaBonge and Eric Garcetti for introducing the motion on the community’s behalf, LA: 15th Council District reports that the Los Angeles City Council approved its motion to allow free parking at meters in shopping districts in Council District 15.

The free holiday parking will be from Saturday, December 10 to Saturday, December 31, enabling more cost-effective shopping at local stores and patronizing San Pedro  restaurants this holiday season.

That is, in addition to the already year round free parking at The Corner Store.
