JOY GONZALEZ ART EXHIBIT FEATURED AT CORNER STORE GALLERY
The Corner Store in San Pedro is presenting a special exhibit of landscape paintings by San Pedro artist Joy Gonzalez. Joy’s oil paintings will be on display from October 1 to November 30, with a reception Sunday October 23 from 3 to 6pm.
Joy Gonzalez paints San Pedro and Palos Verdes scenes in an impressionistic realistic manner. She conveys her deep appreciation of the natural world and her great love of the outdoors in beautiful landscapes painted in plein air. Her goal in painting outdoors is to capture the ever-changing light and deepening shadows of nature. Her studio work builds on the knowledge of nature’s colors learned from observing and painting outdoors.
Joy Gonzalez has displayed her paintings at numerous local exhibitions, and is affiliated with The Artists’ Studio at the Palos Verdes Arts Center. She also has many professional associations including the PVAC Pacific Arts Group, National Watercolor Society, California Arts Club, and Laguna Plein Air Painter Association.
The Corner Store is San Pedro’s country store, a community eating and meeting place as well as local art gallery, located at 1118 West 37th Street, San Pedro, CA 90731, phone (310) 832-2424. Open Weekdays 6am-6pm and Saturday and Sunday 7am-6pm. Owner Peggy Lindquist features bi-monthly exhibits of local artist’s work.
