Palisades residents are very familiar with the sight of sailboats up and down our coast. This summer was the Transpac race, a special bi-annual event that brought hundreds of boats to Point Ferman to begin a grueling race to Hawaii. For anyone that witnessed the beginning of this race it was amazing to see the many boats jocking for their place at the starting line.
This year one of the Palisades own residents made the trip on a Santa Cruise 70 sled. Our neighbor, Jib Kelly, competed as crew on OEX in this years TransPac race to Hawaii. OEX arrived in Honolulu in 7 days, 15 hours and 23 minutes to take first place in Division Two and third place Overall.
Jib has been sailing for all his life being born on a sailboat. Jib Kelly and his wife Kim live on Roxbury.

Congratulations Jib!
It would be great if Jib would present a talk on the experience and share it with our community. I’d love to hear the details.
